King George III was still a bachelor when he ascended the throne of Great Britain. He married the seventeen year old Princess Charlotte, the youngest daughter of Duke Charles of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in 1761. In 1762, the new queen gave birth to her first child, the Prince of Wales who would later be known as George IV. Our Charlotte chair is named after the queen who was responsible for the interior decoration of their residence at Windsor. This frame features and boasts a boxed welt design which borders its sides, top, and seat.
